Christmas contest

My human has entered me in a hedgehog Christmas contest. Please vote for me! I'm number 22, Holly. If I win, I get a new wheel! It would be so cool! I could get a pink sparkle wheel,  purple sparkle wheel, dark blue one, light blue one, aqua one, or a green one! I mean, I love the one I have now, but it's just plain white! What to do?

It's my human's birthday today. She's turing thirteen! That's really old! (well, compared to a hedgehog were old age is eight) But I'm having a problem, what should I give her for a birthday present? Maybe a mealworm and chicken birthday cake? That's what I had for my birthday. Or maybe a log to hide under. Yeah! that would be a good present! I don't think she even has one! If she doesn't have one, where does she hide? Oh, well. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Humans are weird!

Me? A BUMBLEBEE?

So my human got this idea in her head about dressing me up for something called Halloween. She wants to dress me up as a bumblebee. Come on, a bumblebee????? She says that I look cute in a bumblebee antenna, but I disagree. What hedgehog has an antenna? She has been trying to put this long yellow thing around me to see how big I am. But so far all she knows is that I'm between ten to twenty inches wide and ten to twenty inches long. I hope that she gives up on this costume. Though I do like the idea of having a stinger. Maybe I can sting the dog.  Oh, well. At lest I'm not the doggy toy.

What's a soccer?

My human and and her family are lately talking about something called a soccer. What is it? Can you eat it? I hope you can. It might be really good! But if you can't eat it, what can you do with it? I wonder if it has something to do with my little blue ball. My human calls my blue ball a soccer ball. It jingles! Sometimes my human hides a cricket next to it. I also like to push it around.  Maybe  soccer is a bunch of humans pushing around blue jingle balls. I wonder if there is hedgehog soccer? I think that I would like to play that. Maybe I could win mealworms! Well, I got to go. My hedgie bag is calling to me!

New cage

I got a new cage again! My humans said my old one was to hard to clean. So I got a Ferret Nation. Then when I had the cage about a week, my humans got me a new cage! It's smaller then the Ferret Nation but it still fits my wheel, food dishes and igloo. But I still like my Ferret Nation better.

New place, new smells

We are in a new place today, and do you know what I like about new places? New smells! I can smell grass,  rain, and those funny things that jump and have fluffy round tails. And that is only outside! Inside I can smell candles, flowers, and some funny stuff that my human calls "tune a fish." But I o But I only smell tune a fish in the morning. I can also smell a cat! But It's fine, the cat is always outside and my human makes sure to close the door to the room where I am. So except for the cat I like it here. I only hope that I never meet the cat! But I think that my human will make sure I don't.

Rain, Rain, come on, stay!

I like rain, partly because my human gets bored and gives me treats, and partly because I get to have fun! My human will put me in the playpen to let me run around and I have fun driving her crazy because I try to get out. I also have fun burrowing in my fleece strips (she puts the box with them in my playpen).

I made up a song about rain, it is sung to the tune of rain, rain, go away.

Bath time!

After my human took me back inside, it was time for a bath. After she ran the water my human put me in the sink. The bath was nice and warm, and there were bubbles in it! I like bubbles. When they get on my whiskers I look like I have a mustache! After my human washed me off with a toothbrush, she picked me up and started to rinse me off. That is the part I hate. Sometimes I get water in my face! But I didn't this time, and after that she wrapped me up in a towel and dried me off. I don't know why she bothers, because I just get messy again that night.

Outside

My human took me outside today! It is big and green and smells nice. It smells like flowers and grass and fresh air. I got to run around in the grass and look at the sky. I like the sky because it is a wonderful blue! When I was running around an ant ran over my foot and I wanted to eat it but my human moved me before I could. I hope my human takes me outside again soon.

My food

My sweet potato and chicken baby food , broccoli, and pumpkin puree in ice cube trays.

My human is having fun, I think. She is all of a sudden offering me new foods. Some of them I like, like the pumpkin, broccoli, and wet cat food. Some things I don't like though, like the banana and strawberries.
She just got me a baby food to try tonight. I hope I like it!

Today I had fun. See, I had a busy night last night because the night before I slept much longer than I normally do so last night I ran on my wheel a lot! Oh, and hid under my ramps doing a huffy fit when my human fed me. So my wheel was more messy then normal this morning when my human got up. She wasn't too happy about my wheel when she went to clean it. I had fun listening to my human grumble when she cleaned out my cage. I plan to have a clean night tonight so next time I have a messy night, she won't be expecting it.

Now I'm happy!

Now I'm happy because my human came home! I missed her so much! (sorry, I thought I posted this days ago)

I'm sad

I'm sad because my human left me at home when she went on vacation. My human left me with her dad, and he still holds me, plays with me, and gives me mealworms, but he is not my human. I hope my human comes home soon. I miss her.

Yay me!

Guess what? I learned how to get out of my playpen! See, my human bought me a little swimming pool to use as a playpen a few days ago, and decided to put me in it . As she was watching me run around in it, I had a great idea! What if I just climbed over the short wall and went to find someplace to hide?  So, I was climbing out when the plan went wrong. I had hoped she wouldn't notice that I was climbing out ( yeah right, but one could always hope), but she did.  I pulled myself out and ran to my blankie that she had left on the floor.  My human pulled me out, and put me back in my playpen. I know, now my human will watch me when I am in my swimming pool playpen (she does anyway). But I still learned to climb out, and now I have fun watching her try to catch me before I get out.

My cage

My human got me a new cage a week ago, and she calls it a Guinea Habitat Plus. It seems like she didn't notice I am not a guinea (whatever that is)! I am a hedgehog! So I call it my cage with ramps. I like my new cage because it has more space and more places to hide! My favorite hiding place is under the ramps. I also like to run on my wheel.

Here I am!

Hi! I'm Holly!

Hi! I'm Holly, a five month old African Pygmy Hedgehog. My human owner is a twelve year old girl, and she is nice because she gives me mealworms! I love mealworms because they are crunchy on the outside but creamy on the inside. My human also gives me crickets. I like crickets too because they make a nice crunch sound!  My human is weird sometimes, too.  Last night I found a comfy spot under my cage liner, but when my human woke up because of my digging she took me out of that spot! After she put me back in my igloo and got back in bed, I went right under the liner again. This morning when she woke up and noticed that I was curled up under the cage liner, she took me out again! Weird.
